We have received some information from LAPD on the incident, indicating that:
Update with additional details: The victim parked in his reserved parking space by Tower 46. When he exited his car, two armed and masked men attacked him from behind, holding a gun to his back and shouting at him to get on the ground. They then took his keys, his watch, and a backpack that contained a laptop, among other items. They ran to a waiting car, and sped off east and south, going the wrong way in the one-way section of unassigned parking behind Tower 45 to leave Park La Brea. The victim called the police and filed a police report at the scene. Please be aware of your surroundings when parking and exiting your cars. And if you have not yet signed the PLBRA Security and Safety Petition, please do so now, and share it with friends and neighbors. Thanks.

Here's your place to vent, y'all. Post pix of the messes you find around PLB - and provide some context. Please avoid posting personal information (we'll have to remove it, if you do.)  Really? I watched a resident walk OUT of a tower and place her bag of garbage on this trash can. We have dumpsters in the basements, y'all.  Trash can literally 10 steps away. Do better, or we're calling your mother.

 Yesterday's fatal knife attack has left us all feeling grief, outrage & shock. While we are thankful that LAPD promptly caught the suspect, we also feel Park La Brea management should do more to support the safety and security of residents. Do you feel the same way? We fielded our first short resident survey in early May. The intent was to find out what are the most important issues for PLB residents and how PLBRA can best advocate to serve your needs.
What stood out the most? Management responsiveness, by a long shot. Up to 81% of survey responses mentioned this as their top issue. This was followed by maintenance issues (up to 61%) and safety and security (43%). It's also worth noting that nearly 20% of respondents are worried about the end of the eviction moratorium, and 30% of that group applied for rent relief. So please be aware that a number of our neighbors are suffering, even as we approach the end of the pandemic. The complete results can be downloaded here. The survey is statistically significant, with a confidence interval of 85%. (Read: these answers are representative of the general PLB population. Yeah, we can do math at the PLBRA!)
