December Board + Residents Meeting
TOMORROW, Tues. Dec. 5th 7:00 pm PLB Theater Please join us for the last Board + Residents meeting of the year, which will be held in-person at the PLB Theater. We'll be doing wrap-ups on our activities this year, including updates on security, parking, landscaping, pool and gym, and interactions with the City over issues important to residents. We are also preparing for the 2024 Board elections, which will be held in early January. Have questions about the process - or even want to run? Come talk to us. Love and Condolences We are sad to note that our Vice President, Ramiro Castro, lost his younger brother Christian in November. Christian was a delight. He often helped Ramiro with PLBRA's Thursday Night Movies, where some of you may have met him and bonded over favorite movie lines. Christian was a committed volunteer who lived to better his community. If you'd like to send your condolences or help the Castro family with expenses, please visit Christian's site on Ever Loved. You don't want to miss these ...

Street Resurfacing Continues There are affected areas both TODAY and TOMORROW, Sept. 18th and 19th. Check the handy schedule and map to see if you parked in one of those areas - and don't forget to move your car or it will be TOWED to elsewhere on the property. Download the Map COVID Emergency Rental Help from the City of LA Still need help with COVID-related rental debt? The City of LA has created a fund and applications open TOMORROW, Sept. 19th at 8:00 am. For more information, download the fact sheet with income restrictions and how to apply. One Year with Valet Living Trash Service: Survey is Still Open Tower residents have "lived" with Valet Living for a year. It's time to take your temperature regarding the service. Please take our Valet Living 1-Year Experience survey. We still need a few more responses. We're planning to total the results and report at our October 5th Board + Residents meeting - so add your feedback today. Take the Survey Now Who says we never tell you anything? Here are THREE THINGS to be aware of at Park La Brea this week.
Thursday Night at the Movies: CLUELESS Thursday, September 14th Doors 7:15, Movie 7:30 Park La Brea Theater As if! It's been 28 years, and those houndstooth miniskirt suits and over-the-knee stockings still look good. Come hang with Cher, Dionne, Tai, Murray, Travis and Elton as they navigate the trials and tribulations of attending high school in Beverly Hills. Join us to watch Clueless on the big screen, and help find the answer to the eternal question: Why does Paul Rudd never age? (PG-13, 1hr 37min) Property-Wide Road Resurfacing You may have seen the email alerts and the parking signs: Prime is resurfacing the roads in Park La Brea. If you park in general parking, please observe the signs and park in an appropriate spot to avoid being towed. Access to some reserve lots and garages will also be impacted, so if you have a reserved parking spot, you should be paying attention as well. We've uploaded a handy copy of the dates and the map, if you need another one. Download the Map One Year with Valet Living Trash Service: Survey Tower residents have "lived" with Valet Living for a year. It's time to take your temperature regarding the service. Please take our Valet Living 1-Year Experience survey. We're planning to total the results and report at our October 5th Board + Residents meeting - so add your feedback today. Take the Survey Now Tower residents have now had a year of using the Valet Living trash service. In advance of our next PLBRA Board + Residents meeting on October 5th at 7 pm, PLBRA is collecting feedback from residents on the experience. We'd like to be able to approach PLB management and have a constructive conversation about what is working and what is not. Please take the survey below - and of course, we welcome your comments about using the service after you take the survey. Please be civil in the comments - any aggressive or personally-directed comments will be deleted. Here are three things you can do this week to entertain yourself or do a little good for the Park La Brea community.
Thursday Night at the Movies: JURASSIC PARK Thursday, August 17th Doors 7:15, Movie 7:30 Park La Brea Theater Relive the chills and thrills of the original Jurassic Park! What was your favorite part? The scary animatronic T-Rex or sexy reclining Jeff Goldblum? No matter what you love most, join us in the PLB Theater to experience it again. 🦖🦖🦖 (Rated P-13, runtime 2h 7min) Sign the PLB Non-Smoking Petition It's time to protect our community. The Park La Brea Residents Association Board went on record a number of months ago supporting PLB's transition to a non-smoking property. We started a petition, and there's still time to sign it. First step would be to remove smoking areas from common-area parks, which are in violation of PLB's own rules. Please sign and share with your family and neighbors. Our goal is 1,000 signatures - we're almost 25% there. Sign the Petition Send us some photos. We're concerned that PLB is looking a bit disheveled lately. We'd like to point out where the biggest issues are - weeds, trash, untrimmed lawns, dog poop, paint, apparent structural problems. Please snap photos when you see things, and send them to us at [email protected]. Please identify the location where the photo was taken in the email, so we can effectively pinpoint and report it. And please note that we are NOT looking for issues inside your apartment - if you're having a problem, report it to [email protected]. Send a photo SAVE THE DATE: PLBRA BOARD + RESIDENTS MEETING Tuesday, August 1st 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Park La Brea Theater Curious about the ADU's that were mentioned last month in PLB's financing press release? Wondering about parking enforcement and security issues now that PLB's new Patrol vendor is up and running? You're in luck. Both Prime VP Aryn Thomez and USG on-site director Dora Magana will be attending this month's meeting to answer your questions. The meeting will be held in-person in the air conditioned Park La Brea Theater. As always, all residents are welcome. Please note that we want this to be a constructive conversation, and will manage the meeting with that goal in mind. So grab your bottle of water, put on your good neighbor hat, and join us! ------------ Cool Off at the Academy Museum 6067 Wilshire Blvd. This week's slate of activities will please all ages, from the screening of Ridley Scott's PG-13 masterpiece Legends (introduced by master makeup Lois Burwell), to a music video workshop for teens, an accommodative music-focused screening of Finding Nemo - even a book signing by award-winning Black Panther costume designer Ruth E. Carter. The Museum is the perfect place to cool off while enjoying the business that made LA famous. This Week's Calendar + Tickets ------------ Sign the PLB Non-Smoking Petition Guess what? We have a record of success with our petitions, which have helped move PLB to hire a new Patrol vendor and install secure entrance systems in the Towers. Now we're tackling smoking. The Park La Brea Residents Association Board went on record a number of months ago supporting PLB's transition to a non-smoking property. First step would be to remove smoking areas from common-area parks, which are in violation of PLB's own rules. Please sign and share with your family and neighbors. Our goal is 1,000 signatures - we're more than 20% there. Sign the Petition Here are three things you can do this week to bring you a little happiness or to help improve the lives of your friends and neighbors at Park La Brea:
Adam Schiff Field Staff Onsite Tuesday, July 11th 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm Park La Brea Theater Rep. Adam Schiff's field staff will be onsite Tuesday for their monthly visit to support constituents. They can help answer questions and solve problems associated with immigration and citizenship questions; applying for federal benefits; tracking misdirected federal payments; IRS issues; applying to a service academy; federal legislation; and appeals for federal decisions, among other things. No RSVP required, just walk right in - they're always happy to see us! -------------- Sign the PLB Non-Smoking Petition The Park La Brea Residents Association Board went on record a number of moths ago supporting PLB's transition to a non-smoking property. Momentum has slowed somewhat, so it would be great if more residents signed our petition to remove smoking areas from PLB park areas. Please sign and share with your family and neighbors. Our goal is 1,000 signatures - we're nearly 20% there. --------------- Celebrate Bastille Day Beverly Cañon Gardens 241 N. Canon Drive, Beverly Hills Sunday, July 16th, 5 pm to 7 pm The French version of Independence Day falls on July 14th, but to keep the celebration going, the French consulate is holding a market with entertainment the evening of July 16th. Choose Bastille Day will feature vendors with French food and goods, music from DJ Djemel, the French Double Dutch dance team C'west, and a magic show with Magic Castle member Patricia Magicia.
