Updates on 9/21 Armed Robbery

9/24/2021

We have received some information from LAPD on the incident, indicating that:
  1. The armed robbery was a random act of violence (no connection between victim and perpetrators);
  2. The victim was not injured;
  3. The alleged perpetrators were four young men between the ages of 18 and 21;
  4. The perpetrators are NOT still at large (no further details on this statement).
We will post more details as soon as we have them. Many thanks to Senior Lead Officer Schube for responding to our inquiry.

Update with additional details:
The victim parked in his reserved parking space by Tower 46. When he exited his car, two armed and masked men attacked him from behind, holding a gun to his back and shouting at him to get on the ground. They then took his keys, his watch, and a backpack that contained a laptop, among other items. They ran to a waiting car, and sped off east and south, going the wrong way in the one-way section of unassigned parking behind Tower 45 to leave Park La Brea.  The victim called the police and filed a police report at the scene.

Please be aware of your surroundings when parking and exiting your cars. And if you have not yet signed the PLBRA Security and Safety Petition, please do so now, and share it with friends and neighbors. Thanks.

Did this occur on a lower floor of the tower or floor 4 or above?

I’ve noticed the Hauser gates not closed many times when I’ve driven this route.
Seems this is faulty mechanics and consequently is set up for crime.
Would it be best to lock those gates permanently from cars

Can we get more outdoor cameras around the towers ? I think it’d make a lot of people feel safer since patrol isn’t always around and gated are easy to get through. For situations like this and hit and runs.

The robbery was NOT a "random act of violence." The victim believes that the robbers planned the assault to get his watch.
