PLB residents: LA is undergoing its 10-year City Council redistricting process. There are plans afoot to remove PLB from CD4 and stick us in a district that puts more emphasis on homeowners than renters. We'd prefer to stay with renter-friendly CD4 and Councilmember Nithya Raman. Help support this POV and SEND AN EMAIL TO THE REDISTRICTING COMMISSION (firstname.lastname@example.org) BEFORE FRIDAY AT NOON. Here's one you can cut and paste:
I live in Park La Brea. I'm writing to request that Park La Brea, a multi-cultural community consisting entirely of tenants, remain unified in the redistricting process with other multi-cultural tenant-rich communities. In particular, I would like us to stay in the same council district as Los Feliz.
Here's why this is important. The statewide and city-wide housing shortage makes clear that some of the most impactful legislation City Council will consider over the next decade and more will weigh the interests of landlords and homeowners against the interests of tenants. It's therefore crucial that multi-cultural tenant-rich communities such as Park La Brea and Los Feliz remain unified so that tenants have clear representation on City Council during those discussions. At present, there is only one such clear voice, recently elected, on the Council. By dividing Park La Brea and Los Feliz across different districts, the maps under consideration might well reduce that to zero.
Please ensure that Park La Brea and Los Feliz remain in the same council district. Thank you for your consideration.
