A handful of residents got together to solve a problem in the Towers. They were successful — so they kept going.
Forty years later, the Park La Brea Residents Association is still here. Independent of management, funded by residents, working with the City, our local and state representatives, and Park La Brea management to maintain the quality of life across PLB.
From One Issue. To a Track Record.
Residents organize to solve a problem in the Towers. PLBRA founded.
Protected residents from asbestos exposure during ongoing maintenance work.
Cleaned up the 6th Street homeless encampment. Secured key fobs for children.
Pushing citywide ordinance requiring disclosure of utility-bill calculations.
Working on a Television City shuttle connection to the Metro station.
Inform. Represent. Improve.
PLBRA's job is simple to state and hard to do — keep residents informed, represent their interests, and launch initiatives that make PLB a better place to live.
PLBRA publishes the community newsletter, posts updates on issues affecting Park La Brea, and surfaces what residents need to know — not what management wants them to hear.
We carry resident concerns to Park La Brea management, the City of Los Angeles, and our local and state elected officials — with a louder voice than any individual resident has on their own.
Asbestos protection. The 6th Street cleanup. Key fobs for children. Utility-bill disclosure. Government Day. PLBRA initiatives that have measurably improved life at PLB.
A community of 10,000+ residents that organizes can hold management and the City accountable in ways individual residents simply can't. That is the whole point.
Started by residents. Funded by residents. Working for residents.
The PLBRA Operating PrincipleFunded by Residents. Accountable to Residents.
PLBRA is independent of Park La Brea management and is funded by membership dues, donations, and newsletter advertising. Dues cover the operating costs needed to keep the organization active — meetings, advocacy, the newsletter, and the resident initiatives carried to City Hall and management.
The committees and working groups behind that work cover outreach, land use, rent, market rates, AirBnB issues, and the newsletter. Voting members keep the structure alive.
