Thanksgiving is a favorite at the Market. We love it ‘cause it brings family and friends together and it signals the start of the holiday season, but mostly it’s the holiday which allows us to help make one of the most special meals as wonderful as you want it to be.
Our poultry shops, Puritan Poultry and Farmers Market Poultry, will be stocking up on the finest freshest turkeys available anywhere (hint: order in advance to get just the right bird at just the right weight). Both of our butcher shops, Marconda’s Meats and Huntington Meats & Sausage are ready for you, too, with a roast or a wide array of sausages which are perfect for special stuffing. Over at Tusquellas Seafoods, Bob has scrumptious oysters at hand and he’s always happy to share his exquisite recipe for oyster stuffing.
Bill Thee’s monkey bread is just ideal for your feast (every year, we recommend it and every year, somebody thanks us) – find it at Thee’s Continental Bakery. T & Y Bakery has desserts which are just sublime, Breadworks has a wonderful array of loaves and cookies, Gill’s Ice Cream and Bennett’s Ice Cream will make the last course something grand. The fact is, we’ve got Thanksgiving covered from soup to nuts to wine to the freshest possible fruits and vegetables, all in our delightful open air market where you always get personal service, friendly advice and a warm smile, too.
As long as you’re grocery shopping, here’s a special tip: Keep an eye out for weekly Farmers Market Fall Meal special recipes (drawn from L.A.’s Original Farmers Market Cookbook) – they include discounts and they’re all really tasty.
