The Park LaBrea
Residents Association

is an organization of volunteers who have joined together since 1988 to work actively for the benefit of the community and all its residents.

Our members wish to thank Park La Brea Management for its ongoing support of the Cultural Activities Program and its interest in enhancing the social life of our community.

11/1  – Monsters vs. Aliens (2009) PG 

94 minutes – After Susan Murphy (voiced by Reese Witherspoon) is struck by a meteor and grows to be 50-feet tall, she's captured by the government and shuttled to a secret compound where she meets a team of other monsters -- soon to be Earth's only defense when aliens attack.

11/8  – Duplicity (2009) PG-13

130 minutes – Julia Roberts and Clive Owen co-star in this curveball-throwing thriller as a pair of romantically involved corporate operatives who are entangled in a bitter rivalry between two mammoth pharmaceutical companies. From writer/director Tony Gilroy who previously directed Michael Clayton.

11/15  – Lars and the Real Girl (2007) PG-13

106 minutes – Ryan Gosling plays the title character in this oddball comedy about a delusional young man who buys a life-size doll over the Internet -- and then falls in love with her. When the young man starts telling people that the doll is his girlfriend, his brother and sister-in-law decide it's time to intervene. Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times Only after the movie is over do you realize what a balancing act it was, what risks it took, what rewards it contains.

11/22  – Away We Go (2009) R 

98 minutes – Buoyed by the news that they are expecting their first baby, Burt (John Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph) embark on a journey to locate the perfect place on the planet to raise their child. But their quest inevitably yields many unexpected surprises. By Sam Mendes who directed “Revolutionary Road”.

11/29  – Imagine That (2009) PG 

107 minutes – Work problems are piling up for financial exec Evan (Eddie Murphy), and his ruthless rival (Thomas Haden Church), greedy boss (Ronny Cox) and touchy-feely best friend (DeRay Davis) aren't helping matters. But when Evan discovers a pathway to his daughter's imaginary world, he starts finding some solutions. Nicole Ari Parker co-stars as Evan's estranged wife in this inventive family comedy from Over the Hedge director Karey Kirkpatrick.

 

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of PLBRA will be held on Monday, Mar. 1 at 7:00 pm at the Activities Center at Curson Square.

Meeting agenda items will include committee reports, a review of policy-setting arrangements, and finalizing procedures for the election of new officers on Monday, April 5.

PLBRA members are welcome to attend the meeting.
